One of the problems with mantra selling is that it is inevitable that someone will get a mantra that's antithetical to their life. Some TM mantras, if the yogic traditions is correct, can induce poverty. But clearly they can cause a lot more problems than that. Ultra-Orthodox TM'ers will find it hard to understand, but indeed sometimes stopping doing these ishta-bijas is the best method to get your life back. Diagnosis: ishta-mantra overdose with possible misprescribed mantra.
