This, by the way, is why I feel as strongly as I do about the focus of TM studies. They should be on the benefits of the TM practice, not on the ME. The general public has been led to believe that, when it comes to depres- sion, "relief is just a pill away," and that this is the *only* relief. It isn't. And studies showing that meditation results in less depression might present another alter- native to compulsive pill-popping and criminal over-prescribing.
