As I was reading the first sentence, I thought you
were going to finish by saying, "Afterwards, we are
delighted to find that every one of them was just
our Self all along!"

Nah.  We *do* know exactly what we have done: we have
appealed to aspects of our very own Self.  From the
perspective of enlightenment--I would assume--there's
no way we can do it *other* than by ourselves.
