"Wall of separation between church and state"
is how Jefferson described the First Amendment,
MDixon.

If you're aware of that, then you're being
disingenuous to say it isn't in the
Constitution.  It's just as misleading as
to say "freedom of religion" isn't in the
Constitution because that exact phrase isn't
in the Constitution.
