From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Reply-To: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: Re: Question about Euthanasia and my Grace Date: Thu, 22 Sep 2005 13:15:40 EDT I am not sure it is about bravery. It does take bravery to be with someoneas they die a natural death. But I think that the hardest thing I ever did inmy life was to euthanize my horse Shire. If I had felt it would be ok, orfair, to him, it would have been easier for me, i think, to just stay with him while he went on his own. But because of the particular problem he had, it wasgoing to be an extremely traumatic and painful thing for him. But in thatcase euthanasia took more bravery (also the bravery of knowing I would always hate myself for doing the euthanasia, and I always have). It really just comes down to trying as hard as possible to be honest with yourself about what the animal can bear, and trying not to confuse it with what you can bear. I am not sure it is possible to do that, to be able to separate the things so purely, but that is what I try to do, and I think that allows you to make the best decision. I am so sorry. When I was struggling with gathering the energy it took to actually write, I was thinking of you. I wanted your opinion about this. I wish I were braver. Funny, isn't it, I always think of myself as strong and brave, but when it comes to this... I just feel helpless and humble. N
I personally think Euthanasia of pets is wrong. We shouldn't have the power
to take an innocent life. Only God has that power.
