Fingernail clippers aren't allowed? I guess I lack imagination, but I can't
think of a way to use them to hijack a plane. I figured that knitting
needles would be out when they said no plastic table knives would be
allowed. Knitting needles could be a danger and it bothered me before that
nobody said anything about them. There are plastic flexible ones though. I
don't suppose that blunt plastic children's safety scissors would get
through either, although I can't imagine them being dangerous.

One option for cutting yarn is to use another piece of yarn - if you cross
the two and pull the extra yarn back and forth on the spot where you want
the yarn cut, it will work.

We're not trying to get around the system - just trying to figure out what
we will be able to do when traveling and what we won't. They said it could
be inconvenient, and I don't think that anybody is complaining, but we need
to be aware of these things - I wouldn't have given a thought to the nail
clippers on my key-chain if it hadn't been mentioned. On other lists people
are talking about that they can't ship animals unless they are already known
shippers (of course it applies to shipping anything). We all understand
the reasons for this, but it's still necessary to work out how it will
affect us so that we can be prepared, and not show up with something that
won't be allowed.
