The big Schacht that is sitting here in my studio has the breast beam
easily removable. The woman who owns this loom then removes the top of
the beater bar and the reed, pushes the beater forward (and actually
rests her wrists on the cross piece where you would normally set your
reed), sets her stool in there and threads away. She is about 5 foot
and 100 pounds soaking wet, so is a small person - but this seems to
work well for her. She also warps back to front.
