I finally found something that I think will work for a first warp--and
in one of "Marilyn's" Handwovens! However, there were a few items in
older issues as well, I just wasn't looking for 16 shaft in previous passes.
Anyway, going to thread straight draw for 3 repeats on both sides, and
standard point twill in the center for 13 repeats. At 24 epi, should be
good dish towels and give me the fun of designing a wide variety of
decorated twills. AND use up some mill ends at the same time :)
Last night I started seriously untangling the heddles. I REALLY don't
like texsolv. And if it lightens the weight of the heddle frames, it's
a surprise to me. I sat down to treadle a bit to a) find out if I'd
adjusted the dobby correctly (I think I did) and b) move the chain
dohickey to where I had just 1 shaft at a time pegged so as to reach the
heddles on it more easily. YIKES!!!!! It's HEAVY when lifing 8 shafts.
And all the work is done by the right leg, which is bad news for me as
it's my right hip that gives me problems.
DD suggested a weight added to the end of the treadle. And I still have
to get the bench out of there, which must be made for a 6 foot weaver,
and replace it with a cut-down barstool, which might help the hip
stress. But now I'm wondering if I'll get it to where I can treadle
<sigh>, at least without popping aspirin every hour on the hour.
Next email will have a question for those who are accustomed to
sectional warping :)
