Jennifer so glad to hear that an unwind and a rewind has given you a nice warp to weave weft through....
I don't know what sort of advice to give regarding extending your stick shuttle.....maybe you could find a very sturdy card that was the right width and then build up layers of the card until it feels more sturdy. or do you have something else laying around that could used.....?something with holes in each end that you could fashion a rounded U to take your yarn. i know there are such 'fings' in a house......once when we were having a new gas water heater installed the nice man had an left part that was just the right size to tie onto my loom and put my 'then sticks' in! cathy who just realised today after a long hiatus of no weaving that she really enjoys spinning & dyeing yarns better........I've got this order and it's taking forever! So I will take no more orders until the joy returns
