For diagnosis, I think it's a must. If it solves the problem, it will
give the Finale programming team a lead to follow.

I'm also concerned about your report that you have iKeys loaded all
the time. Given the way it interacts (by design) with programs, it
seems to me to be a likely culprit for causing problems.

Obviously, like plugins, it's something you can't really work
without, but for troubleshooting purposes, you really need to try
running Finale without it and see if the bug persists.

The suggestion to run Finale alone is not really practical, of
course, but if running only Finale leads to stability, then you know
that the instability is caused by some interaction with some other
process. Of course, the problem with modern OS's is that there are so
many services and processes running that you don't actually
explicitly request that it's hard to say when you're actually running
Finale by itself.

I have see problems with servers when software patches were applied
to them that have caused file corruption for client workstations. It
could be any number of things that can cause the problem, but I'd be
thinking about whether or not you have any software running that
mucks about in the interface between the OS and the file system, such
as a 3rd-party undelete program.

In short, I wouldn't at all be surprised if there's a connection
between your instability and the file overwrite bugs.
