Historically, this has been a problem that I think is UI-related. I've been using Finale since 1990 and can't explain why it happens. However, in my experience, it always works to to SHIFT-CTRL-CLICK instead of to drag. This is also the method for copying from a source that can't be displayed onscreen at the same time as the target. -- David W.
