What about better or revamped Chord notation???
I speak with MM people for time to time and encourage them to buy Bill Duncan's beautiful chords (and a few other niceties from his packages) and include them in Finale. All I can say is that they do seem to listen to me and at least consider what I suggest. Until then, Eric, I suggest biting the bullet and buying Bill's chords for $40. They are really nice.
