There are differences. You may or may not find that there is any loss. Aaron 
Sherber answered this question well. To his answer I would only add that if you 
use plugins, you will find yourself mildly irritated with the fact that the 
plugin menu becomes grayed out when viewing a part. There are two simple ways 
around this. You can switch quickly back to score view to run the plugin. 
(There is a handy keyboard toggle for this.)

Or you can run the plugin from a modeless window that you open in score view 
before switching to the part view. This is handy for plugins like JW Space 
Systems where running it in score view doesn't buy you anything.

I'm not sure what MM was trying to accomplish by graying out the plugin menu in 
part view. So far as I can tell, all it accomplishes is pissing off users 
before they figure out how to skirt it.
