This last part is not entirely correct. If you generate parts from
an existing score, what controls the *creation* of MM rests is
Document | Manage Parts | Part Creation Preferences | Create
Multimeasure Rests. If this box is checked, then MM rests will be
autocreated when the parts are generated.
Aaron, I looked in my score, this was checked, and there were still
no MM rests generated until I used the Measure Tool to create them.
I don't know where the problem is - whether it's in my file, in the
way I am operating the system, or in MM's implementation of the
linked parts. Perhaps it's one of those things that works if you
deselect it and reselect it, like the optimization issue. I cannot
test this though, because I've already applied create MM rests to all
the parts in part view.

HOWEVER this doesn't seem to work if you start a new Fin07 score
from the Setup Wizard and have the wizard generate the parts for
you. This looks like a bug. The workaround is to *uncheck* Generate
Linked Parts in the wizard, and then after the score is created go
in by hand and do Document | Manage Parts | Generate Parts etc.
