The only thing wrong with the drum part was the same thing I was
encountering in the other parts, and this was true for both the
linked part view and the extracted part. Staff styles were not
applied from about the 9th measure through to 3 measures before the
end, and then the last 3 measures had slashes applied in the part
when the score had no staff style applied. Go figure.
I have now completed the work on this score in 2007, and it has been
a royal pain in the ass.
I also tried to use the Avoid Vertical Collision plugin, and it does
work, though the default settings move things so far that you are
likely to lose systems from pages. Settings with smaller distances
will probably work better, and I look forward to finding those.
