Having studied at King's I would argue that King's sounds very different from what the Thomas Choir would have sounded like in Bach's time. The English choir sound is _very_ different from any German boy's choir, and I am pretty sure Bach's "choir" would have sounded even brighter than the Tölzer or the like.
