I still don't understand why you "can only use the text blocks". Text expressions are much more suitable for this purpose IMO. Text expressions can be as long in length as text blocks. And with text expressions, you can also get (almost) automatic opaque borders around the stage directions. Put all the stage directions in a "Stage Directions" category. If you mix fonts in the stage directions, don't inherit the category's font.
