Hi Linda, I meant to write cmd-D, apologies.
But the redraw method works for me -- I frequently double-click with the text tool and nothing appears to happen. Immediately redrawing the screen reveals a handle that I can then double click to edit. I'm not sure why this doesn't work for you, since I've definitely encountered the problem you describe, and redrawing works on my setup. Measure-attached text blocks have been obsolete since the time Finale began to allow you to create lengthy expressions with line breaks and multiple fonts -- Finale 2004 or so. Since then, expressions have been able to accommodate "two or three long sentences (and many shorter ones.)" And of course, expressions stay attached to the entry or beat to which they are attached, even when measures are inserted or deleted.
