So far, there has been very little participation in this project, other
than by me.

David, I think your link is not quite what you desire. I think <http://article.gmane.org/gmane.os.apple.fink.devel/7441/> is . Was this only announced on devel?

I will start helping.

Just so everyone knows what we are talking about, the above link should direct you to:

From: David R. Morrison <drm <at> math.duke.edu> Subject: Please Help Improve the Stability of Fink Newsgroups: gmane.os.apple.fink.devel Date: Sat, 14 Feb 2004 15:43:19 +0000

Dear Fink folks,

As many of you know, the "stable" tree in 10.3 was created from the
corresponding tree in 10.2. Everything which was moved to 10.3 builds OK
on 10.3, but there are a number of cases where the software provided by
the package no longer works, or doesn't work as expected.

We need to improve this situation by analyzing the packages in 10.3/stable
for stability in this sense. Once we know that the packages there are
stable, we'll be able to make our first binary release for 10.3 (which
should have the same quality as previous binary releases). In fact, once
we get to that point, I'll plan on a simultaneous release of Fink 0.6.2
for 10.2 and Fink 0.7.0 for 10.3.

You can help! I've set up some wiki pages at
http://ranger.befunk.com/phpwiki/index.php/Fink
where we can keep track of the progress of this project. If you can test
a package from 10.3/stable and verify its stability, please edit the
corresponding page of the wiki and "sign" as the person who has validated
the package. If you find a problem, please report it to the package
maintainer and on this list. We'll plan to remove the problem packages
which don't get fixed prior to the binary distribution.

  Thanks,
  Dave
