Thx for the tips everyone...and yes...it was a matter of time. Not the
dream car i was hoping for but it sounds way to interesting not to
investigate and get if all checks out. One thing at is interesting is that
he says it is a ram air 2 car and that the motor has never been out of it.
Looked online, doesn't seem to be a ram air 2 option. Maybe he means ram
air 3? but it doesn't have any of the ram air stuff. He might be mistaken,
or switched motors at one point? Either way, plot thickens. I have
actually talked to him and his wife so it is not a scam like it would seem
to be if I didn't get a hold of him. But whatever...have VIN, sent in to
PHS so will wait for their fax and check out the car on saturday.

I knew it was only a matter of time... I congratulate you
on just getting out there and doing a little hunting!
I think everyone has covered it pretty well and yes you can
have the PHS docs Faxed... But also check any documentation
they may have as far as service records, repairs etc as there
may be more clues or info in such documentation...
But it sounds pretty legit over all so far. Keep us posted!
Good luck - Brett!
Subject: 400 or not?
From: "rick watz" <[email protected]>
HI All....
Don't want to jinx things but I am going to look at a 69 400/400
this weekend. Having never had one and am not going to have time
to do a historical search, am asking what the sure fire signs are
that it is not cloned. I know the 400's had the front "x" pans
on the rad support, 400 on the left side of the trunk lid, of
course the 400 hood, the pontiac symbol on the bumper. He says
it is an original car even down to the carb and distributor,
66000 miles, he has had the car since 1976 with only 1 repaint
in 1983. Going to search our first gen website for codes and
such, but would appreciate the help from the experts here.
