I just installed 1.8b3. The first time I just installed "on top of"
the previous version. After clicking on the Restart Firefox button at
the completion of installation I got a popup error message that said
"Firefox can't find the file at jar:file:///C:/Users/Dave Harper/
AppData/Roaming/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/y86qk0dw.default/extensions/
[email protected]!/content/firebug/
traceConsole.xul." Very similar to but somewhat different from the
error message I posted towards the top of this thread. Just to be on
the safe side I used the Add-on Manager to remove FBTrace and did a
fresh install. Same thing. Clicking the "Try Again" button in the
popup has no effect.

However, if I close the popup and then load FBTrace from the Firebug
dropdown menu (or do a Shift-R), the tracing window appears to open
correctly. In spite of this I don't see any message being logged to
the Logs window. In the Options window I still have CACHE and ERRORS
highlighted as per John's suggestion above. I also see a new "Global
Events" window with a number of entries listed but they don't really
mean anything to me. I tried highlighting some of the entries to see
if that would cause anything to be logged in the logs window but this
didn't appear to be the case. I also tried selecting additional items
in the Options window but again this also didn't cause anything to be
logged in the Log window when I reloaded my page.

Thinking maybe the log was being created but just not being displayed,
I tried saving it to a file and found that there was what appears to
be a startup message. Reloading my source additional times and then
re-saving to the file did not change the initial message. This log
simply consists of entries for version number, app & os information,
date, etc.

Just as a quick test I dropped back to 1.8b2 and verified that I still
get around 500 or so entries in the Logs window when I reload my
source. I have reinstalled 1.8b3 again.

I admit I am completely ignorant about using FBTrace and it may well
be something I've failed to enable or set up correctly.
