Basically the autopilot just targets the max climb/descent rate until desired
altitude is reached.  It needs work.  The current autopilot doesn't hold a
pitch or a throttle/power/speed setting...so you can see it is quite easy to
create a stall situation.

The problem I'm seeing is actually observable without the autopilot.  The
autopilot was just being used as a reference point to describe the bug so it
can be reproduced (as opposed to manual flight where I could have just had the
trim screwed up).
