There are other issues which I am not free to discuss but will surface with time. I'll just say it will come to light if none or only a few of the ATAPI devices support SATA. I still have not heard a word from any of the ATAPI folks on whether they plan to support SATA or not in the near future. This is what started my comments to begin with. Like I said privately, I have no problem admitting I am wrong if all of the ATAPI folks are going to support SATA tomorrow (figuratively). I just don't get that feeling. If they do, then I retract what I said. I just hate to see the committee spend a lot of time including something that only half of the ATA/ATAPI world plans on implementing. Once it's in the standard, it's kind of stuck there. Look at what the committee has been going through for not supporting READ/WRITE LONG in 48 bit mode (oh no, I shouldn't have mentioned that huh?). gary laatsch [EMAIL PROTECTED] ----- Original Message ----- From: "Andre Hedrick" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "T13" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Sunday, December 15, 2002 3:18 PM Subject: Re: [t13] FW: Transfer of SATA 1.0 spec to T13 > This message is from the T13 list server. > > > > Well it is more like half and half. > > The host driver protocol works the same (for the most part). > What has changed is where you stuff the taskfile registers with the ACB. > > So the points are split, but it will not work with direct legacy registers > if you are going the use all of SATA I. > > Cheers, > > Andre Hedrick > LAD Storage Consulting Group > > On Sun, 15 Dec 2002, Gary Laatsch wrote: > > > This message is from the T13 list server. > > > > > > Nor mine.....but the spec says it is so it must be us.....:-) > > > > gary laatsch > > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > > From: "Hale Landis" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > > To: "T13" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > > Sent: Sunday, December 15, 2002 12:30 PM > > Subject: RE: [t13] FW: Transfer of SATA 1.0 spec to T13 > > > > > > > This message is from the T13 list server. > > > > > > > > > On Fri, 13 Dec 2002 21:26:27 -0800, Edwin J.
