To try & confirm that it's not the files, you could create/save a new ddb, then try
and open that one.
I recall this issue coming up before... I think it had to do with file associations
being lost. You might check in Explorer under Tools | Folder Options | Filetypes and
see if DDB is still associated with Protel. If it's not you might fix it manually; or
probably uninstalling and re-installing the latest SP should reset those (as opposed
to completely uninstalling Protel).
You might also check the protel knowledge base.

Greetings all,
I suppose this should teach not to take holidays....(maybe Protel is sulking)
I started Protel this morning after a week's break and all seemed OK until I
actually tried to load a DDB. Any attempt to load a DDB is met with the "New Database"
dialogue box and the statement that the document I have tried to open must be imported
into a new DDB. This is with DDBs that worked happily last week.
It is possible that somebody has fiddled with the computer while I was away, but
what could have been changed to produce this behaviour.
The Repair Database utility does not help in this situation.
Should I simply do a re-install of Protel or can anyone offer some less drastic
suggestions.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Best Regards,
