No help. Behaviour is exactly the same. It wants to import the DDB its
trying to open.

This method gives an error message:
CANNOT CONNECT TO 'I109090-.ddb' Design Database - OK
Clicking OK clears the error message but no further action appears to have
been taken.

Things got interesting here.
In attempting to create a new "dummy" DDB file, Protel threw up the error
message
ROOT HAS BEEN DELETED - OK
Clicking OK then gave:
Access Violation at address 0044BA7A in module CLIENT99SE.exe
Exception Occurred in CreateNewDocument
Ignore / Quit......

I will try your final suggestion next as it is not as quick to implement as
the previous tests.
I'll let you know how I get on.
