Just as Jwalanta said, K12 is never so much of pain, and even Bhaskar dai could agree to me as far as basic installation is concerned. NFS does fail at time, you could then restart the service in the server, this helps at times, because I too have faced this problem at times in my home installation. Next thing as suggested my jwalanta, check your network cables and yes please monitor your /var/log/messages it does tell you a lot about your workstation activity. And if all this doesnot work out, I still think you should store your changes somewhere and give it a fresh installation, it might help you a lot. Try it on, and let us know
