I have not tested under *BSD at all, only Linux (2.0.0, 2.1.3) and Windows (barely 0.9.0, 0.13.50, mostly 2.2.0, 2.4.0), not to mention VirtualBox 4.x (Win64 only). You should be fine with 2.2.x, not sure if 2.3.0 was totally buggy or not in various ways. (Indeed, some rare things won't work on older buggier versions.)
