Interesting... check out what I found. I appologize if you guys have already looked at this.

The page also claims that the following projects use FFmpeg (just a few of them):
* MPlayer, the reference player for Linux.
* xine, a video player for Linux with a nice GUI.
* GStreamer, an Open Source Multimedia Framework.
* VideoLAN, a video player and streaming server using ffmpeg codecs.
- AND -
* MythTV, a homebrew PVR.



Could a time shifting feature for Freevo be as simple as using FFmpeg with a wrapper? (I know - it's never THAT simple) It appears that FFmpeg is small enough to not greatly affect the size of the binary distribution.


I also think a neat feature would be the abilty to stream files over the LAN - either recordings or live TV.
