Tim,

I am afraid you need to explain your argument more clearly. As an ISP with
servers hosted remotely you say the current freeVSD CDROM is of no use to
you. If you want RPMS of the latest release, with relevant RedHat errata,
and a choice of the latest pre-built skels for RH6 and RH7 to install on
your remote server they are available on the freeVSD CDROM.
>>
Take our example - we are based in South Africa, and lease some servers
in the USA, all of which are pre-loaded with the OS. The effort involved
in getting the CD installed is not worth it:
$149 - cost of CD
$? - arranging delivery, ensuring CD is delivered to proper dept, etc, etc
$250 - service charges from ISP to install CD (and this a conservative
estimate)
Total - in the region of $500
Let's look at the download option:
$50 - cost of software (example)
$10 - ISP/Telco charges for download of software
$0 - installation done by person leasing the server (ok, this wil take
time,
but at least it does not mean forking out money)
Total - $60
Hope this will give you some understanding of the client's perspective ...

It would appear from your response that you want some (all?) of the above,
but do not wish to pay for it. Please correct me if this is not the case. If
it is the case, why do you feel that the work which has gone into
developing, producing and testing these packages (and particularly skels) by
the IDAYA team of developers does not warrant any sort of payment. You
appear to be fairly incensed that we are requiring you to perform the
following in order to obtain your software for nothing:
>>
Wrong - but it is clear that there is a lot of mis-understanding that needs
to be cleared up.
>>
If I actually intended to use some software, and crucially
_make_money_out_of_doing_ so_, I don't think I would let that stand in my
way.
>>
Nope - but not all of us were aware of this option ...
