Wim, IANAL, however;  If they own the rights (in the same way that the FSF
get ownership transferred to them for their software); then they are free to
licence it under whatever licence they wish....

They own it;  therefore their choice.

For past examples, of stuff that was re-licenced from the [L]GPL,; the
Mesa3d library was re-licenced to the BSD two-clause so that it could be
intergrated into XFree4.  (So we all get to Play Quake3...).  And
incidently, this change of licence received the blessing of RMS.

As for merging contributions from outside parties... I would presume that
Idaya have been careful in getting the permission from any contributors
*and* having the rights transfer to Idaya.  Otherwise, they are likely to
find problems.
