Custom tags go away? Replaced by functions?

I haven't played with the new CF5.0 user defined functions yet, but if they have all 
the capabilities of a Custom Tag (which is really just an early attempt at 
implementing user defined functions), then will Custom Tags slowly be used less and be 
replaced by user defined functions?
