I think it's pretty fast (and easy). And at least you'd have them all done
in one fell swoop and not have to think about it again.

I haven't seen it harm templates -- but Dan will hopefully chime in as the
authority there. And of course you want to check the other settings and
make sure you're not compressing or downsampling images or anything since
I think it defaults to do so. Turn off most everything except the desired
flattening setting since that's all you really need and it ought to work
fast. (or do it while you're gone to lunch if it goes slow?)
