Hi all,

I looked back in the archives and found a post I sent last year about
the PDF Optimizer function. I'm including it below.

In essence, the optimizer can be used to alter the PDF background that
is then included in your composition (so you can downsample and remove
unnecessary objects in the background if you'd like) but there are
settings in the optimizer that can actually remove FusionPro frames from
the PDF template itself. This may be useful if you want to remove
FusionPro info from your PDF (which was the original request I
investigated last year).

Here's the full post that I sent:

Hi, everyone

A customer recently asked us if it was possible to remove all of the
variable frames in their FusionPro PDF template in a simple manner (as
opposed to selecting each frame and deleting it). They were doing
hybrid printing on shells and wanted to have the static background PDF
sent off to a different workflow for conventional printing. Since they
had made some changes to the PDF background in their FusionPro template,
they needed to use this exact background PDF file (rather than the
original file) for the shell printing.

There's a great feature in Adobe Acrobat 7 that allows you to remove all
FusionPro frames from a PDF (there may be a similar feature in Acro 5
and 6).

To remove the FusionPro frames in Acrobat 7, first backup your PDF.
Then, select "Advanced->PDF Optimizer" from Acrobat. There are a number
of settings in the PDF Optimizer that you can run on your PDF that are
worth a look at including image downsampling, transparency flattening,
"Audit Space Usage", and font embedding settings.

For removing the frames, go to the "Discard Objects" section and select
the "Discard all comments and form widgets" option (should be the very
first selection). Press the OK button and viola - no more FusionPro
frames!

Please Note: Be careful on the settings in the "Images" area. The
default is to downsample images about a certain resolution so you want
to change those settings to what is appropriate to your workflow.

Hope this option is useful to other users.
