I seem to have fixed my problem of the vanishing static background image. Turns out I have to be working off my desktop. We have a Snap drive where we archive all our files. When working with files on the Snap drive there seems to be a communication error somewhere and when the file is imposed the supporting files cannot be found. When I work off my desktop everything works perfectly.
