Before giving up, make sure that you try both sets of drivers!  If you
tried the RT256x/RT266x combination, try the RT2860/RT2790 combo
instead.  Make sure to uninstall the ones you tried first.

This is, of course, assuming that the Belkin card that you have contains
a Ralink chipset, something that is beyond my knowledge.

I have a USB wireless dongle that uses Ralink drivers that I have used
successfully on several Macs (G3 iMac, Pismo, Cube).  The ones on this
page are newer than the ones I had.  I wasn't sure which one might work
(if either).  Murphy saw to it that I tried the wrong one first (got the
same "No Device" message that you described), but the second set I tried
works wonderfully.  

For those interested, the ASUS WL-167g wireless USB dongle works with
the RT257x/RT2671 driver.
