That's part of the Mac adventure making it all work, and you can. A USB 
FireWire combo card is availible. I don't usally watch DVDs while I'm chewing 
gum so no bother there. But I do listen to CDs and it plays them. If I have to 
have a DVD I can just look up at the tube:-)
