How cool, John. :) I envy you!

Rebooted - and it is behaving normally. At first it couldn't find the
time server (pram battery is dead and unplugged), but after reboot it
is chugging along peacefully once again.

Admittedly, that was pretty scary when it wouldn't boot - but I did
learn an awful lot. It was a lot easier and faster to take it apart
the second time. I have this crazy desire to find a broken discarded
pismo and work on it.

Thank you all very much for helping me out with this. I'm so glad you
suggested I give it a try. So worth it!

Side note: A wooden popsicle stick is very helpful in taking apart and
putting back together - reseating connectors etc. without risk of
conductivity.

The only directions I found vague on the ifixit site revolved around
the clutch cover and inverter board. (I'm a newbie - what can I say?)
Otherwise those instructions were perfection. Oh - maybe add that
suggestion of pressing down the processor firmly - that would be one
small thing for others like me to consider.

THANK YOU!
