e) If you want your Battery to last longer, do the following; Do not set 1) Sound Check 2) Continuous play 3) Equalizer 4) The Shuffle and play list functions d) Put the Back light control to the minimum
Couple of things to add.
A) Your ipod is always on, even when it doesn't appear to be. That is one reason that it can be ready to go so quickly when you press a button. If you have it fully charged, and then leave it sit for 4 or 5 days, you will notice that the battery level has dropped quite a bit.
B) The size of your tracks will greatly influence the amount of battery life that you have. A track that does not fit fully within the cache of the ipod is going to hit the drive and thus the battery more. Higher bitrate MP3s will also cause a faster battery loss due to the processor needing to work harder to decode them.
I've had my 10GB ipod for a year and have not had any battery issues as of yet.
