I ran into a similar situation when, I connected my Epson 777 to my Rev. A
Gossamer. Knowing that OS 10.1.3 already had drivers for Epson USB printers
built in, I tried printing from Office v.x and got nothing. The desktop gave
an indication that it was going to print but the printer didn't respond and
yet there was no dialog showing any fault of either. My OS 9.2.2 didn't have
a driver either and when I attempted to print from it , it gave me a dialog
saying there was no printer attached. I went to Epson's site got the drivers
for classic, installed them . Their site also said the drivers were not
available for X, but were in process. After installing the drivers for 9
oddly enough, both X and 9 prints beautifully from every app that I have.
