Ah, rumors are so evil...  Regardless of what many people think, serial
ports are definitely supported.  For example:  I'm in OS X 10.1.3 right now
on a Beige G3/266 DT, and I'm connected to the internet using a <gasp>
SERIAL MODEM  !!!  Yep, an external global village modem plugged into my
Modem Port.  Worked with OS X 10.0.3 right after I installed it, and it
still works, when I now have 10.1.3.

But to clarify, Classic can't communicate with hardware, from what I've
read.  But for some strange reason, when I was connected to the internet in
OS X, and I opened Netscape 6 in Classic, it actually loaded web pages ok...
Weird.  Hmmm...
