Thanks for the further explanation and I now concur that a driver seems not to be needed in classic. I was on the phone with Apple yesterday for about an hour and they could not resolve the problem. They thought maybe it was that I had 9.2.2 and X installed two different hard drives was causing a conflict for printing in classic so I wiped clean the X hard drive and installed X over 9.2.2 on the same drive. I could actually print in Classic for a while until I rebooted one time and then the chooser again could not select my printer in Classic and no printing. Oh well, getting closer to solving.
