Hi Folks,

I'm thinking about replacing the original 6 GB Maxtor ATA drive in this
Yosemite B&W/400/DVD/832 RAM. It has always been noisy but has picked up an
extra whine now. I'd especially like a very quiet drive and one that
doesn't run too hot-- so that perhaps the current situation with the
computer's second fan will continue: it stays off when the computer is
running, except when the DVD drive is operating.

Do you have any recommendations for a replacement drive? Last summer I
bought a second internal drive, a 40 GB IBM Deckstar 7200 RPM 60 GXP. I'm
thinking that I might get a larger one this time--the larger the better, if
it doesn't cost too much. Anyway, the IBM Deckstar 60 GXP has seemed pretty
quiet to me, and I've thought about buying another one like that (except in
a larger size). I'm just beginning to shop now.

I've also found something at Buy.com: a 120GB EIDE Ultra ATA-5 HD Deckstar
7200 RPM 120GXP. Has anyone here tried that drive? I'm assuming that the
drive work okay in this Yosemite. The price there, $176.95, is close to the
upper limit for what I'd want to pay. Is there any advantage in looking for
the older 60 GXP model instead?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
