Afraid I missed most of the earlier posts on this so I don't know if this is of any use to you. But FWIW, I recently installed a 40gb Maxtor DiamondMaxPlus D740X ATA133 7200rpm in my BWG3 rev 2 400 as the master and made the original 6gb Maxtor the slave. I can not hear the new drive [can't hear the old one either]. Cheers
