If I might be so presumptious as to slightly expand the topic of this thread. I have a biege G3 DT 300mhz with 512MB, 6MB video RAM, OS 9.0.4, and the original 6 GB ATA HDD with ATA Zip, and ATA CD drive. I too also want to add a 40 to 60 GB ATA HDD and had thought to add it via a ATA PCI card. The VST ultraATA 66 card seems on OWC seems to be the least expensive but from what I have read it appears that this an maybe all ATA PCI cards result in a situation where the computer will not wake up from "deep sleep". That ain't worth it, if true. I now use a "slow" old 9 GB external SCSI HDD for back up. I'm not happy with it but I don't want to be without functioning "deep sleep" and a bootable drive. Can anyone with a similar configured G3 Mac tell of their successful HD and ATA PCI card upgrade. I want "deep sleep" and a bootable drive. I would like the potential of OSX upgradeability but I really have no plan to do that unless I breakdown and get a faster G4 machine (probably a new machine anyway), I don't want to do that really. Thank you for any help. Don Parsons
