If you deside to Zap again, after the 10'th time: shut down, unlugg all
power, remove the battery like Mark talked about in his reply. (and I would
press the resett button myself)
If you have an old monitor that is going bad, it can get a lot stranger than
this at startup. So it does not have to be related.

Have you done a clean install recantly?
I allso suggest reformatting (low level format) your startup disk with Drive
Setup first.

It works fine for my Beige G3 300 MT
