I have had the long startup problem on my Beige 300 DT/DVD, but I attributed it to the Sonnet G4 processor chip. I have run 9.1 and now 9.22 with the original 8GB drive and a 30GB added in. it only seems to happen after a month or so of continuous operation (IPNetRouter Machine) or if I mess around too much with installations.
It seems to run fine if I Zap the PRAM a few times, then I don't worry about it since I rarely restart it. I have also reformatted the drives in the past, but still get the problem. -- I wish the new iMac came with a 21" flat panel display, worked by telepathy, came free in cereal boxes and caused nearby Windows machines to magically turn into new iMacs...
