I don't understand much of this advice (below) and I'd like to learn more. I use system disk to switch between 9.2 and osX on my Beige minitower, so checked and I now know my settings are like yours. I'm not trying to fix anything, just trying to learn.
I haven't been able to find docs on system disk or very much about Open Firmware. Any suggestions about where the knowlege is available? --- You wrote: I had a bunch of funky problems with a Beige minitower until I A) Ran the "System Disk" thing from Apple to patch the Open Firmware. B) Ran "bootvars" to set the boot device to /AAPL,ROM I can't remember what it was set to before, but it just didn't seem right. Anyway, before I did this the only way I could get it to boot was to command-O-F and then "bye" the Open Firmware. It couldn't seem to hold onto the monitor-- the LED would blink, and then go orange-- similar to yours, but worse? It also lost the ATAPI busses, and would only boot off the SCSI disk. That may be unrelated, though. It wasn't a happy computer before I got it. --- end of quote --- -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
