I wouldn't. There are a lot of OS 8.6 apps that have to updated to run under System 9. You will have verify all your applications will run under 9, because you can only run classic in OS X with System 9. I would say leave it alone. When you can afford to buy a new computer, and can afford to upgrade all your apps to OS X, that will be the time to introduce yourself to OS X.
