In that case you/they would be better off investing in a CD-RW drive, 
probably a FireWire one, to backup sensitive information. If you have 
anything to do with Audio, Video or large scale media work, or even 
large scale documents/drawings, 36GB ain't a lot to play on and so 
having 2 copies of everything lying around collecting notional dust 
won't help any. I bet you could backup the System folder for OS 8.6 and 
OS 9.2.2 onto a CD, your critical work onto a couple more and then keep 
the CDs in a safe storage place in jewel cases. That way if your hard 
disk 'goes south' then you have copies of everything to restore.
