I back up data regularly. CDRs, RWs, external HDDs, FTP. In my line of work you don't want to take chances, but you also don't want to make costly mistakes.
I ran RAID. Then I stopped hosting FTP servers off my G4 tower. There was no point. I don't even run RAID on my web servers *GASP* I back everything up every few hours to other drives. Using tools like CRON can save you both time and money. I implement many CRON jobs an hour. -- Ryan Coleman Web Developer, Host System Administrator, LEMlists.com >What happens if the hard drive "goes south"? >You loose everything! > >The way I went with my B&W G4 > >Main drives: RAID/ two IBM drives /SIIG 130/100 IDE controller ; two >partitions; 9.2.2 and 10.2( with "hacks" to work the SIIG) > >Backup drive : stock hard drive on MOBO : two partitions: 9.2.2 and >10.2, both "cloned" > >I recently experienced a failure on one IBM drive in RAID >No problem .
